| Experience absolute in abrupt annihilation by Cam | At the fortress and shorn of several key players, the experience made very quick work of New Brighton Black to extend their resplendent run of victories. The visitors were sent in to bat and didn’t monkey around by seeing themselves in on a green wicket. Jake and Grant both snared early wickets but the combative opposition were swinging boundaries at a moderate frequency. A few more wickets and the experience were into the tail. Understandably, they brought on Cam the destroyer and Haydn to wind up the innings, and that’s exactly what they did. Haydn finished with a couple of wickets – scant reward for his glorious moustache. With 73 the target, Bobby and Bede needed no help to acquire the runs. Bede and Bobby batted belligerently, barbarically belting balls everywhere to chase down the runs in 7.3 overs. Game done and dusted at half two, we retired to Burrito’s for some tasty beers and ended up staying longer there than we did on the ground.
An interesting footnote to this wrap-up is that New Brighton only had seven players. It is hard to say what effect this had on the game, but it clearly was an inadequate tactic that may not be employed again.
