| A good team performance yields another tasty victory by Cam | It was polished at points and sloppy at other times, but the Experience forcefully continued our marvellous run of victories. We were up against a well performed OBC outfit and we were conscious not to slip up here. OBC outmanoeuvred us at the toss and promptly chose to bat first, ruining our intentions of posting a massive score. Nevertheless, our opening bowling tyros, Jake and Grant got us of to an economical beginning, which was pleasing with the lightening outfield present. Grant was rewarded with 3 quick wickets but unfortunately couldn’t manage the hatrick. Cam nabbed the threatening joker who’d hit him around and Jimmy continued the rot with 3 good wickets – wickets crafted through guile and a tinge of Mexican deviousness. Jugular pressure was loosened and a combination of some commendable tail order batting and repugnant dropped catches (me being the primary culprit) meant that OBC were able to get through to 130. Too many than we would have liked, but enough to give us a decent bat and an early beer.
Our openers were on the defensive early against some good bowling. Daz, looking like a fish out of water, succumbed to an in-swinging gem while Bobby was merely luring OBC into a false sense of security by playing out a few over’s watchfully. He then decided it was time for his customary muscle hitting, peppering the straight and midwicket boundaries for a rapid 29. Dan, Bede and Ross then took control and got us home. Dan’s stickability at number 3 is becoming quite an asset. He was able to turn the strike over see out the opening bowlers, and with a few huge sixes, he was well worth his 23 runs. Bede continued his great batting form with an excellent 35 – a good mix of boundaries and quick ones and twos. Ross delivered the classy knock you expect from the man, with his front and back foot shots though the covers the main highlight. Despite a few wickets near the end, we got there comfortably and didn’t even need to play any scoop shots over the keeper. Nice. |
