| A victory for watching paint dry by Cam | A beautiful day greeted us at Bishopdale, and the rest of Christchurch too for that matter, for the big clash against the Merivale Papanui crew. We were sent in to bowl and our disciplined bowlers quickly got into their rhythm. Jake and Grant bowled with measured agression and accuracy. However, we were up against batsmen with resolute defense but unwilling to score runs. We had them 32/2 at drinks - the slowness as painful as a nostril paper cut. After drinks however, we were able to chip away while conceding very few runs. Loz made a welcome and effective return to the bowling crease, and Bede bowled well to get 3 scalps. Haydn finished off the innings with a beamer, a wicket and a threat that he'll have to face some beamers himself.
We were understandably confident of chasing down the 64 we were set to win. Haydn opened up and knocked off half the total in an entertaining brief cameo. We then suffered a mini collapse for good measure before Jase and Cam showed some finesse to round out the win. All in all, a comprehensive performance a worthy win. Top stuff. |
